1 Timothy

1 Timothy is administrative in a way none of the earlier letters are. Its concern is a congregation at Ephesus where speculative teaching, myths, and endless genealogies are taking hold, and its answer is structure: qualified overseers and deacons, orderly care for widows, respect for elders.
