1 Timothy

1 Timothy is more administrative than any of the earlier letters. It addresses a congregation at Ephesus where speculative teaching, myths, and endless genealogies are taking hold, and it answers with structure. Overseers and deacons must be qualified, widows cared for in an orderly way, and elders respected.
