Hebrews reads more like a sermon than a letter, and it is built on one word: better. Its readers are under pressure and drifting back toward what they came from, so the argument works through the furniture of Israel's worship — priesthood, tabernacle, covenant, sacrifice — showing each fulfilled and surpassed.
