Isaiah

Isaiah spans the largest arc of any prophetic book: an eighth-century crisis with Assyria at the gates, and a later horizon in which Babylon has already done its worst and God announces a way home. Running through both is the Holy One of Israel — utterly other, and unaccountably committed to this people.
