Lamentations

Lamentations sits in the rubble of Jerusalem and does not look away. It speaks of starvation and humiliation and the temple gone, and it names God as the one who did it. Four of its five poems are acrostics. The book's one turn toward hope comes in its middle poem, chapter 3.
