J. Gresham Machen states the issue

J. Gresham Machen taught the New Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary. He wrote Christianity and Liberalism the year after Harry Emerson Fosdick's sermon, from the other side of the same quarrel. He disliked the name “fundamentalist” and seldom used it of himself. “Phraseology” is a way of wording things.
